Want to find out if your e-mail may be hijacked?

       Sometimes it's good to change your passwords periodically on your email accounts. Over 1.3 million users had there email accounts hacked and hijacked, but the worse part about it is if  they used the same passwords for their other accounts, facebook, bank accounts, etc. Click the icon below to check and see if your email was recent in the hijacking. Even if your email doesn't appear on this list always be aware for strange things happening on your account. If your friends have been getting bizarre emails from you that you never sent...it's probably been hijacked.

Courts Rule Monday...

   The Supreme Court overruled a California law that prohibited minors from buying adult-rated or (M)ature video games. The justices decided that it was unconstitutional and it violated freedom of speech...huh? This means that a minor can purchase games that are extremely gory, contain brutality, sexuality(nudity included), and strong profanity. This ruling caused droves of parents to protest this decision. The judges logic was that it was the parents responsibility. Parents should definitely be responsible, but when your kids are out and about parents don't know what they are doing. If that were the case, then why make the purchase of pornography, cigarattes, alcohol or anything else adult-oriented prohibited for minors because it's the "parents responsibility". It appears to have riled up some cautious parents and rightfully so. Kids should not be pumping their young mold-able minds with blood and guts video games...let them be kids, not "chainsaw zombie assassins" Some parents on the other hand see no problem with it. Do you think this is a problem or do you feel this is not an issue and kids should not be restricted?

Great News for Gas Consumers!

Down is good for gas consumers

      If you haven't noticed, you might want to get out and check gas prices. Prices have a hit a low that we haven't seen in a while, and for now it looks to continue going down. This is great news for those who drive their cars a lot, have long commutes to work or have gas guzzlers for vehicles. This unusual occurrence comes as a surprise, since typically the summer time is followed by gasoline spikes. I definitely don't hear any complaints from consumers in my part of the world. The above crude oil chart from www.stocktrains.com shows you how high oil prices affect the price of gasoline. If you look at the chart, in late April- early May, oil was up near $115 a barrel. This translated into gasoline prices over $4 per gallon. This is one commodity that people are rooting for it to go down. If it continues to drop it may put gasoline well under $3 per gallon. This unusual low in oil prices may be an opportunity for investors. It could be a smart buy...or is oil not a good investment in this economy? It could be worth looking in to.

Tech Update: Tired of a Slow Computer?

Tired of a Slow Computer?

     By Adrian B- Are you sick and tired of your computer running slow and having so much junk on it. There is a way to clean it up without paying a lot of money to have it worked on. I may take flak for giving this little secret up, but as a tech guru I really feel bad for the people who get suckered into paying $80+ to have their computer "tuned" up. Though I'm not saying that a "tune up" isn't sometimes necessary, it is usually over-dramatized and techies often price gouge for the service.  I would recommend a tune-up every 6 months. With ccleaner there are some things that the average consumers can do on there own. This software is available to assist with tuning up a slow computer. Though the program is not a fix-all, I have recommended it to all my computer clients. The program, ccleaner, is the free program that computer fix-it shops don't want consumers to know about. The software interface is simple and user-friendly. Its purpose is to clean out all the clutter from the computer. It also allows the consumer to shut down unnecessary programs that slow  down your PC. However, I caution you not to go too crazy with this program...be careful not to shutdown start-up programs that will cause your PC to crash. A little help from someone who is tech savvy, and you can get your PC running better. Also, Google any questions you may have...you can find a lot of answers online. If you are unsure about shutting down certain programs...don't do it. It's better to be safe than sorry. In any case, you can always run the cleaner  section and keep unwanted temporary internet files or cookies from slowing your PC. If this does not help, there may me more maintenance needed and I would recommend having a tech doing the rest. Please click the above picture to get your free ccleaner download. Call of Duty projected to make another billion dollars

         Activision Blizzard is getting ready to release yet another blockbuster video game, Modern Warfare 3.  MW3 is set to break all sales records this November, but there is one problem. Two former employees of Activision are suing the company, claiming that they were promised royalties from the game after its release, but not too long ago...they were canned. This could be bad news for the giant video game company...It also may frighten away fringe investors who were looking to buy Activision's (ATVI) stock. Is this the time to buy their stock or is video games still iffy for investing? In any case, no matter what the outcome of the lawsuit, insiders say it will have little to no affect on the sales of the game. It should still easily bring in a billion plus dollars...that's huge.    Apparently there are no laws in Russia against owning or demonstrating cannons or anti-aircraft guns. This guy living in Russia has more artillery than the US Army; in his other videos he demonstrates machine guns, automatic shotguns and other crazy weapons. Check out this video below:

Sports Update: Tiger Who?

Rory McIlroy shot a 16 under par to win the US Open

      Rory McIlroy won his 1st US Open and he is only 22 years old. Rory took it by storm, winning it with a -16. That was enough to break a hundred year record and good enough to erase a painful memory from the Augusta National a few months earlier. McIlroy looked good in Augusta and poised to win, but a final round meltdown left him devastated and he left empty handed. Who needs Tiger Woods with McIlroy lighting up the tournament.

      The PGA has suffered greatly since the recent demise of Tiger Woods. Tiger's popularity drew  a ton of viewers that haven't really followed golf since his absence. However, Rory's performance over the weekend helped peek interest from those straddling the fence and managed to reel some of them back in to watching the tournament and to see if McIlroy would break the record. Whether or not he will retain those viewers is uncertain. Hopefully, he will give the PGA a much needed boost.

Brand New IPO, Pandora, not making par:

    Pandora came out with little hype and failed to go anywhere...and in fact it fell in the first two days it was released. It may have had good reason for falling...Pandora hasn't made a profit even though they have an estimated 49 million listeners. Is this reason to fear for the internet bubble to burst...not likely, but it is causing fear in some people's eyes. However, no one can say for sure. 

    It's a flashback to the 1990's...with some exceptions. The problem isn't necessarily "internet based companies", but internet based companies that haven't seen any black in their books- ever. That is probably what scared investors from Pandora. There a lot of other internet based companies set to hit the market, some profitable and others, not so much. Will it affect future internet based IPO's or not? Will Pandora be worth investing in at some point?

Pilot flies into DC Restricted Airspace:

    On Saturday, June 18th, a small aircraft entered restricted airspace near the US capitol. The private plane was intercepted by Coast Guard Helicopters. The plane was diverted to Annapolis by the chopper where the pilot was to be met by local law enforcement...big trouble. This type of infraction may come with a stiff penalty; though no official statement has been released. No one has commented regarding the reason for the pilot's "mishap", but with terrorist activity on the minds of US intelligence since the rise of the new Taliban leader, Ayman al-Zawahri, this seemingly insignificant event did raise some eyebrows at Homeland Security. This incident has occurred a few times in the last year. Could this have been a test to see how the US would respond if restricted airspace was breached? Or was it merely an accidental miscalculation by a careless pilot?

Sports Update: Vancouver Out of Control

Angry Fans Burn Cars in Vancouver

       Following the Vancouver Canuck's 0-4 loss to the Boston Bruins and the loss of the Stanley Cup, the Vancouver fans went berserk. They protested violently and expressed their anger in destructive way. They set cars on fire in Vancouver, BC and watched as they burned. Thousands gathered to watch; many of them taking pictures or videos while rejoicing in the defacing of people's personal property as an outlet for their anger. It appears that in Canada you can be destructive and reckless without repercussion. Not only did they set cars on fire but also flipping over numerous vehicles and throwing beer bottles at the many public big screens that were showing the game. This incident shows the immaturity of so many people and where their priorities are placed. Fortunately, these incidents are fairly limited. Is this cause for a law suit for those who lost property due to the vandalism? Should the instigators be punished and held responsible?

Costco Gets Downgraded:

    Costco Wholesale (COST) the membership based, retail giant has just recently been downgraded from positive to nuetral by the S&P and analysts at Goldman Sachs have also downgraded the stock with a bleak outlook in the retail sector. However, this downgrade comes as a surprise since Costco has beaten its rev's consensus from Thomas Reuter by $.03 and Q3 earnings beat projections. It could possibly be a bumpy road ahead for its stock holders. Costco may still be able to withstand the "downgrade" and remain strong. Click here for more on Costco.

Sports Update: Should the Chicago Cubs Fire Jim Hendry?

     Is this the end of the Jim Hendry era? Or should it be the end for him? Hendry appears incapable of making good decisions. His abilities as GM has been called into question on many occasions, and the organization's lack of success has put him in the hot seat many times. The question is how many times does it take before an owner should say, that's it? The team is there to win not exist or just provide entertainment.Though the Cubs showed a spark of hope after a win at home against the Yankees, it's not necessarily enough to save Hendry's career in Chicago. The team's disappointing track record over the past decade may land Jim in the unemployment line...and many think it is for the good. It appears that the only reason he's still employed with the Cubs is his closeness with chairman Tom Ricketts. In any case, the organization needs a makeover on the GM side...they need a new look and a new approach. Would firing Hendry begin the process of turning the organization around? Or is he doing an adequate job?

Greek Protesters Getting Violent and More Aggressive

      The crisis in Greece has made a turn for the worst, causing investor fear which has been reflected by a harsh slump in the market today. Hundreds of violent protesters have been clashing in the streets in Athens with riot squads as the economy's future is at stake. Greece hangs in the balance with economists projecting the socialist country a pessimistic outcome. The European Banks cannot come to an agreement as to a second bailout, since the first $70+ billion euros was not sufficient. Greece is just an example of the struggling European Union. With Ireland, Spain, Italy and Portugal also on the list of devastated countries, Europe has a lot of work ahead of them as they try to save these countries from collapse or worse- keep them from spiraling down into violent chaos and turmoil. 

      This continued European decline has caused the Euro to drop in value and has affected US investors as well. The NYSE has suffered greatly and investors are getting pounded as the Dow drops with each negative event that occurs in Greece...the European crisis will continue to have repercussions in the US...but sadly the average American has no clue about the negative affect the crisis is causing here on our own turf.

    In a day and age where cyber attacks are becoming more threatening and dangerous, hitting closer to the US infrastructures with each attack. This time it was a Congressional website. As hackers become more sophisticated and grow in number, it is harder than ever to keep all the attackers out of high profile websites. Agencies such as the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, NSA and other agencies are being targeted daily. Web security is constantly being increased yet still hackers are able to break down fortified firewalls. The group behind the attack also claimed responsibility for the earlier attack against Sony's PlayStation Network. Check out this short ABC Video about the cyber attack. If anyone manages to have into Wall Street it could be the beginning of a worldwide, economic collapse.
