Will the Android Market Surpass the Apple Marketplace?

Apple versus Android
Will Google's Android Market dominate the mobile market in 2011? The ever growing Android Market is poised to surpass the Apple Marketplace in the near future. Most smartphones are running the Android operating system and access the Android market, while only the iPhone can use the Apple Marketplace. Even though the iPhone is singly the most popular phone, it's still only one phone while its competitors have hundreds of phones on the Android Market. What it boils down to is which marketplace is more popular for developers and which will produce more money.
The Apple Marketplace has a lot of parameters and guidelines while the Android Market has less restraints. The iPhone is owned my more adults than young people and is only available to AT&T or Verizon customers.  Android phones have a more diverse consumer base. Young kids as well as adults own Android phones which makes their app market easier to develop for than Apple's. For instance, someone who strictly creates apps that are geared for young people would not fare nearly so well in Apple's Marketplace while succeeding in Android's due to the amount of young, android phone users.
So why do more young people own Android phones? The answer is simple; it's money. Android phones can be purchased a lot cheaper or even free with promos, and you don't have to switch carriers to get a really nice phone. However, only time will tell who will be the king of the hill- Android or Apple? For those investors out there, a bigger question looms over this battle for mobile dominance. If Google's (GOOG) Android OS becomes number one, what will their stock do? Will it entice more investors into Google stock, and will it break $600.00 per share?
